I went to school in Detroit for four years, riding and driving around, then lived four more years just north in the suburb of Warren and never had a single theft. Once some kid got into my Civic when I forgot to lock it in the apartment parking lot. But if he’d have stolen it, I’d have been better off. Theft does happen, but Detroit is not the free-for-all Wild West everyone seems to imagine.

Are these things rare? I live in NJ we see an inordinate amount of VWs on the road and with spoiled brats as children and hedge-fund managing parents there are more than a few Golf Rs at high schools in this state.

Point is I have no idea if these are in fact special, or just orange.

Apparently they only sold 1200 orange GTI’s in the US. There were also yellow GLI’s. I always liked them because yellow and orange were the most interesting colors I saw on Mk5's.

My grandparents live in Springfield MA, and their house is that exact same style. The turret is missing though. I know it used to be there, and I don’t know for sure what it was removed. Also their house is light blue and white.

I am not a huge fan either, but being rare, and a cool color, I will mourn it. There are too few orange cars on the street, and that number just dropped by one.

Nooo! it’s always the good that die young. I was parking my car near trees all day hoping one would give me an insurance pay out and an upgrade from the buffalo. BUT NOOOOOO they only want the GTI’s. damn it
